Luanjiao Aggie Hu, PhD, International Education Policy, '21 is our first 2020 GradTerp Student Spotlight, featured this week in our new GradPathways newsletter for all graduate students.
Aggie is a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Graduate Student Life, where she says she enjoys the supportive work environment and opportunities to interact with students. Aggie will also be a speaker at our first Grad Terp Exchange of the semester, on September 10!
What is the biggest challenge you've had in graduate school? Navigating US higher education as an international student with a disability (had a major surgery and recovery while working and taking classes.)
What is your favorite thing about UMD/studying here/being a part of this community? The supportive faculty members, various engagement opportunities & access to UMD employee insurance.
What is your #1 piece of advice to a graduate student for a great experience at UMD? Get engaged through research, teaching, service, internship, fellowship, study abroad, or other opportunities; and get to know other people genuinely.
Anything else you'd care to share with us? Be strategic & plan ahead in your grad school career.
