GLOA Assessment Cycle

Figure 1. Example of the GLOA Assessment Cycle across Four Years

ASSESSMENT CYCLE FALL SPRING OR SUMMER
Year 1 (Note: Directors of graduate faculty will be notified the prior spring semester if their program will participate in the GLOA Process this cycle; Ph.D. programs will participate in graduate learning outcomes assessment every three years.) Graduate faculty, in coordination with appropriate staff, select at least one graduate learning outcome goal to assess. Programs can opt to assess more than one goal. Graduate faculty, in coordination with appropriate staff, develop an assessment plan. The director of graduate studies (DGS) submits a brief report (e.g., 2-3 pages) on the selected goals and assessment. The report should also determine whether the program will assess the same graduate learning outcome goals during the next three-year review cycle or set new goals to assess.
Year 2 Collect GLOA data for the next report. Collect GLOA data for the next report.
Year 3 Collect GLOA data for the next report. Collect GLOA data for the next report.
Year 4 Collect GLOA data for the next report. The DGS submits a brief report (e.g., 2-3 pages) on the selected goals and assessment. The report should also determine whether the program will assess the same graduate learning outcome goals during the next three-year review cycle or set new goals to assess.
