The University of Maryland has a vast network of support services across campus from academics to wellness to community building. Familiarize yourself with the information below to enhance your experience during your graduate school journey and to find assistance should the need arise. The Graduate School also offers extensive academic, professional development, and wellness programming designed for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Additionally, the Dean of Students Office provides support and resources to assist all students throughout their time at the University of Maryland.

Offers support for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at every stage of their development as academic and professional communicators

The Teaching and Learning Transformation Center (TLTC)
Inspires excellence and innovation in teaching, learning and scholarly activities in the pursuit of transformative educational experience at UMD.

Conduct, Conflict, and Reporting

Graduate Student Ombuds Office
An ombuds is a person who can be consulted by members of the university community who want information about University policies or Graduate School Policies relating to their activities or who encounter problems that they cannot resolve through ordinary means (e.g., student to faculty member, staff to supervisor, faculty member to department chair)

Navigating Graduate Student Grievances
Guide to help you understand Grievance Policy, when you might consider filing a grievance, who can support you, and the steps involved in the process.

Unacceptable Behavior Incident Report Form
If you have been impacted by and/or have witnessed an unacceptable behavior incident involving a graduate student, you can file a report/complaint by completing this online form.

Bias Incident Support Services
Serves as a resource for compassionate care, providing a space for students, faculty, and staff to report incidents, and access options for healing when affected by identity-based harm.

CARE to Stop Violence
Provides free, confidential advocacy and therapy services to primary and secondary survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment, while simultaneously empowering the campus community to prevent violence through educational presentations, events, and outreach activities. 

Office of Civil Rights & Sexual Misconduct (OCRSM)
Administers the University of Maryland's non-discrimination policies and works to foster a learning and working environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment, including sexual misconduct. 

Office of Integrity and Responsible Conduct (OIRC) 
Addresses concerns of Research, Scholarly, and faculty Professional Misconduct and promotes appropriate practices.

Office of Student Conduct
Proactively encourages safety by promoting and upholding the standards and integrity of the University of Maryland Community.

University of Maryland Police Department (UMPD)
Serves the university community, to protect life and property, and to uphold the law, all within a supportive, respectful and inclusive environment.

Graduate Student Life (GSL)
Fosters a sense of community and connection among graduate students through meaningful, fun, diverse programs. 

Graduate Student Government (GSG)
The graduate student governmental body charged with serving and representing all graduate students at the University of Maryland. 
 

International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS)
Welcomes all new international students and scholars to our flagship campus, serving as the touchpoint for all of your questions about immigration, transitioning to the U.S., and making on-campus connections.

LGBTQ+ Equity Center
Builds an inclusive, supportive, and vibrant campus community that centers belonging in teaching, research and service for people of all gender identities and expressions, sexes, and sexual orientations.

Memorial Chapel
A multifaith facility that serves as the center for religious life on the campus, including Students of Faith, Interfaith and Spirituality Programs.

Veteran Student Life
The University of Maryland is a Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success (CEVSS). A hub for resources that serves veterans and military-connected students, staff, and faculty on campus.
