Welcome to GradTerp Forum: A Blog on the Research, Scholarship, and Practice of the graduate community at Maryland. This year marks the centennial of graduate education at the University, and we launch this blog as part of our celebration. GradTerp Forum celebrates the fearless research and work of our graduate students.
In the modern university, research and study are often siloed, familiar only in departments or perhaps colleges. Most scholarly communication about research findings happens in disciplinary journals or at discipline-specific conferences. The mission of the University, however, calls for us to advance knowledge “in areas of importance to the State, the nation, and the world.” Maryland graduate students make vital contributions to this mission, responding to and solving a wide range of critical problems in our contemporary world. The goal for the GradTerp Forum is to share the innovative work our graduate students do each day across campus and beyond.
The title, GradTerp Forum, harkens to the classical idea of a forum, a site where ideas and views on issues can be exchanged. We welcome you to read and engage with the ideas and research shared by our fearless graduate students.
