The Graduate School held its first-ever Candidacy Tea for doctoral students last week. The occasion celebrated the achievement to candidacy for over 300 graduate students who reached this milestone between June 1 and November 1 of this year.  The event was attended by about 40 graduate students, their advisors and deans.

There is nothing more compelling than a person's story. And what's more, to hear such narrative through film.  The Graduate School, through a series of short graduate student testimonial films, hopes to capture some of the essential elements of graduate life at Maryland.

This week, The Graduate School and Dean Steve Fetter welcomed over 1600 new graduate students at orientation. Co-hosted by Assistant Dean Jeffrey Franke and Associate Dean Ryan Long, the day included a warm welcome by Provost Mary Ann Rankin, and an inspiring keynote by Dr.

Thanks to native architects Vayden McMorris, Wilson Chong, Verma Panton, Victor Patterson, Mostyn Campbell, Handel Lawson, Herbert Robinson, Rupert Bond, and Herbert Bradford, Jamaican architecture has experienced a resurgence over the last 60 years. Verma Paton also has the distinction of being one of the first female architects in the Caribbean.
