Health Insurance Reimbursement Requests for Full-Time Fellows
All full-time enrolled graduate students are required to have health insurance. Students holding full time fellowships may be eligible to request rembursement up to $1,500 for the cost of insurance. Graduate students who are supported by full-time Dean’s Fellowships (DFs), Graduate School full-time fellowships (i.e. the Wylie Fellowship), or prestigious external full-time fellowships (i.e. the NSFGRFP), may be eligible to receive a reimbursement up to $1,500 per academic year for individual health coverage for the fellow. Reimbursement for the cost of dependent health insurance is not offered. For information about what constitutes a full time Fellowship please see out latest GA Stipend Memo.
Eligibility is based on the type of fellowship and the amount of fellowship funding provided over the fall and spring semesters. Summer and/or winter stipends are not included.
Eligible students must complete the Health Insurance Reimbursement Request Form and provide proof of payment and copy of insurance card. Holders of prestigious external fellowships also must present a copy of the fellowship MOU, contract, or offer letter. The signed Health Insurance Reimbursement Request Form and supporting documents must be submitted to the Graduate School using this Google Submission Form.
The following graduate fellows are not eligible for Health Insurance Reimbursement
- Fellows holding departmental/program fellowships
- Fellows who are enrolled in a State of Maryland Employee Health Insurance plan; and
- Fellows who are part-time students.
