Grad Student Orientation Kicks Off the Academic Year

ImageThis week over 1400 new graduate students attended Graduate Student Orientation at The Hotel.  With President Wallace Loh, Associate Provost and Dean of The Graduate School Steve Fetter, Graduate Student Government President Annie Rappeport, and Dr. John Bullock ('09 PhD) GradTerps were welcomed to the campus. Students were also treated to a panel of faculty comprised of Drs. Michelle Espino, John Fisher, and Colin Phillips who helped explore what students might expect during their graduate careers.

“Today we begin a journey together. By choosing to pursue a graduate degree, you’ve made a significant commitment of your time and your talent.  You are taking on new challenges in research and scholarship, while other aspects of your life go on- you may be learning a new culture, expanding your family, or continuing professional responsibilities.  At times, graduate school may feel like a challenging journey—but we want you to know that you are not alone.  The Graduate School and our partners across campus are here to support you and ensure your success.  I hope you will find graduate school as exciting, valuable, fulfilling, and life-changing as I did. . . nearly 40 years ago,” said Graduate Dean Fetter in his welcome remarks.
