  • Success on the Faculty Track

    Marisa Franco graduates this spring with a Ph.D. in Psychology and has accepted a tenure-track faculty position at Georgia State University.  She is a success story for Maryland and the Graduate School because she was a participant in many of its programs for underrepresented doctoral students on the path to the professoriate.

  • Commencement Profile: Kamesh Karmegam

    Kamesh knew he was in unchartered waters when he came to study Cybersecurity at Maryland’s Advanced Engineering programs. It was his first time away from a close-knit family, and from his hometown of Chennai, India.

  • Professional Development Advances

    In the past year, the Graduate School (GS) has expanded the range of workshops it offers to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, adding sessions on topics ranging from time management to writing a grant proposal to identifying transferable skills. The goal of the effort has been twofold: to offer more holistic support to the students and scholars the GS serves and to begin designing clear pathways for students to follow to reach their degrees and beyond.

    You can’t give what you don’t have. This statement also applies to a work environment and service unit, such as the Graduate School.

  • Ph.D. Celebration Luncheon 2017

    On May 16, The Graduate School and Interim Dean Jeffrey Franke, celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating doctoral students, with keynote speaker and Dean of the College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences, Dr. Jayanth R. Banavar.

  • Graduate School Honors 2016-17 Fellowship and Award Winners

    The Graduate School honored its 2016-17 fellowship and award winners at the annual Fellowship and Award Celebration, held on May 11. This celebration recognizes students, faculty, and staff who receive funding and awards honoring excellence in scholarship, mentoring, and service to the UMD graduate community.
