Charles A. Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award

The Charles A. Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award recognizes original work that makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline. The competition cycle will occur in Spring 2027.  We invite nominations from colleges for Ph.D. dissertations defended in the calendar year 2026.  Recipients of the Charles A. Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award will receive an honorarium of $1,000 and may be nominated by the University for the CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award.

The Graduate School invites applications for the Faculty-Student Research Award. Full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members and full-time professional track faculty who advise and mentor graduate students at the University of Maryland at College Park are eligible to apply.

University of Maryland President’s Fellowship

In partnership with University of Maryland doctoral programs, The Graduate School is pleased to offer the President’s Fellowship.  The President’s Fellowship is aimed at recruiting outstanding doctoral students from differing backgrounds or with unique personal and scholarly experience. The Graduate School will offer up to 30 President’s Fellowships this year to help graduate programs compete successfully for superlative students.
