Doctoral Careers Advisory Board

Established the summer of 2020, the Doctoral Careers Advisory Board (DCAB) provides strategic advice and feedback on supporting diverse doctoral career paths at the University of Maryland.  Comprised of doctoral and postdoctoral alumni, current doctoral students and postdocs, board members commit to two years of service.

Doctoral Alumni Career Services

The University of Maryland is committed to assisting its doctoral alumni with their career development after graduation. Services are provided through the Alumni Association in collaboration with the network of career services offices on campus.  In addition to the Alumni Association, the Schools of Engineering, Business and Public Policy provide services to doctoral alumni through their career services offices.

Engaging in purposeful professional development and career planning are important parts of the doctoral and postdoctoral experience and essential to building a fulfilling career across one's lifetime. From day one, it's valuable for all doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars to self-reflect on values and interests, establish connections with academic and professional mentors, and identify meaningful career pathways, as well as the requisite skills and experiences that pave the way for a fruitful job search.

Become An Expert

Building expertise is a hallmark of graduate education. What expertise do you need to be successful in your career? You may be part of a team, conduct your own research, develop ethical standards, build a professional community, all enroute to fostering your continued growth and development.
