Student Fellowships & Awards

The University of Maryland Graduate School is committed to the success of graduate students and invests university financial resources to provide students the time and support needed to complete their studies and research. Graduate School fellowships support students by providing a stipend, and in some cases a tuition award, giving the student time to conduct research or write. Doctoral students are eligible to be nominated for fellowships. Master's students may be eligible for select awards.

English Editing for International Graduate Students

The English Editing for International Graduate Students (EEIGS) program is a unique opportunity for international students enrolled at the University of Maryland.  Through the program, international students may submit required academic writing for free editing.  Editors are volunteers from the university's Volunteer Service Corps.

Graduate School Travel Grants

The Jacob K. Goldhaber Travel Grant and the International Conference Student Support Award (ICSSA) help defray the expenses incurred by UMD graduate students who are traveling to scholarly, scientific, or professional conferences to present papers, posters, or other scholarly material. Students may receive each award twice during their graduate education at UMD, once before the achievement of candidacy (including master’s students) and a second time after the achievement of candidacy.
