Flagship Fellowship

The Flagship Fellowship Program helps to recruit outstanding doctoral students to the University of Maryland Graduate School. Flagship Fellowships are multi-year enhancement awards to be added to fellowship/assistantship offers made by graduate programs and may total $60,000 per student over the duration of the award. 

Summer Research Fellowship

In partnership with the University of Maryland doctoral programs, the Graduate School is pleased to offer the Summer Research Fellowship. These fellowships support research activities that advance a doctoral student’s progress toward degree.  The fellowships carry a stipend of $5,000 with specific cost-share requirements, as detailed in the Guidelines. These fellowships are not intended for dissertation completion.

President's Fellowship

In accordance with our core values, mission, and desire to create a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus environment, we offer the President’s Fellowship, aimed at recruiting outstanding doctoral students from differing backgrounds or with unique personal and scholarly experience.  

Southern Regional Education Board Doctoral Scholar Award (limited submission)

The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works side-by-side with policymakers such as state legislators and education agency officials as they implement policies to help students achieve more, prepare students for college and careers, and boost college completion.

Summer Internship Fellowship

In partnership with University of Maryland doctoral programs, the Graduate School is pleased to offer the Summer Internship Fellowship program. The Internship Fellowship provides students with the opportunity to participate in alternative learning experiences that advance a doctoral student’s professional developments. The fellowships carry a stipend of $5,000 with specific cost-share requirements, as detailed in the Guidelines.
