When I visited the University of Maryland, I really felt this sense of, people knew each other and cared about each other, but you could also do your own thing. So, it was, there was a friendliness, there was community, but it wasn't stifling.

I've met so many awesome people here, and been challenged in ways that I couldn't imagine.

In high school, before I went to undergrad, I had a professor, had a French teacher whose daughter was doing international studies in undergrad and she was getting recruited by the UN and I was like, wow, that sounds like such, that sounds like the coolest thing in the world. I wanna work for the UN. And so, I did international studies in undergrad.

I landed on Health Policy, because I thought it would be a wide enough sphere, where I could figure out, sort of, the more niche topics I wanted to work on, but at the same time, sort of, stay more general, in case I decided, maybe, there's something else that interests me.

The Graduate School has released its final report from the Spring 2017 Quality of Life Survey. This survey, administered in conjunction with the Office of Graduate Student Life, Graduate Student Government, and the Office of Graduate Student Legal Aid, is the most comprehensive survey of graduate student experience at UMD to date. The Job Search: The Art of Peer Networking

We trust the experience and counsel of our friends and supporters. There are shared values, safety and perhaps even comparable pursuits. Even more to the point, if we try something new then our peers are more likely to feel comfortable doing the same. When used in a career setting, this is often referred to as horizontal networking.
