Rest and Reflect: Social Wellness Event

The Graduate School's Rest and Reflect Social Wellness Event. Nourishment, Community, Learning, Movement.Join us on Friday, May 8, 2026 for the Rest and Reflect Social Wellness Event on Tawes Plaza.

This is a chance to engage in restorative practices that encourage rest and reflection while also building meaningful community connections. The day-long event will include yoga, a sound bath, dancing, food and other activities in a relaxed and welcoming environment!

The event is open to the entire UMD community including graduate students, undergraduate students, postdocs, faculty and staff at UMD as well as across the USM.

Registered students and postdocs will receive a name tag and independently review schedule for the day. Guests will receive a brief welcome message before the activities begin.
11:30am to 12:30pm McKeldin Library, Room 4123 Yoga
11:30am to 12:30pm Benjamin Building, Room 1107 AromaTherapy
12:30pm to 1:30pm Tawes Plaza Networking Lunch
Students and postdocs will have the opportunity to connect with peers across programs and institutions.
1:30pm to 2:30pm STAMP, Benjamin Banneker Room 2212 Sound Bath
1:30pm to 2:30pm STAMP, Charles Carroll Room 2203 Dancing
3:00pm to 3:30pm Tawes Plaza Closing Remarks
Students and postdocs are encouraged to exchange information and plan to connect.

Social Happy Hour
Students and postdocs are welcome to attend a Social Hour and Happy Hour. Attendees are responsible for any purchases made at the happy hour.

From the North (Baltimore): Take I-95 South → Exit 25B (College Park/US-1) → Follow signs to UMD.

From the South (Virginia, D.C.): Take I-495 North → Exit 25B (College Park/US-1) → Follow signs to UMD.

From the East (Annapolis, Eastern Shore): Take US-50 West → Merge onto I-95 North → Exit 25B (College Park/US-1).

From the West (Frederick, Western Maryland): Take I-270 South → Merge onto I-495 East → Exit 25B (College Park/US-1).

Parking: Attendees are responsible for parking fees. Please review the visitor parking map

Public Transit: The College Park Metro Station (Green Line) is a short shuttle ride or walk to campus.

Campus Shuttle: The University’s shuttle services provide access to STAMP and the Benjamin Building (which is near Tawes Plaza).
