University-Wide Platform: Handshake
Handshake is a fast, easy, and smart system that connects all UMD students and alumni with jobs, internships and career services. The platform provides access to positions around the world, as well as part-time and full-time jobs on campus and in the surrounding community, at no cost to any current student or postdoctoral scholar.
For International Students and Scholars
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) provides career advice and workshops in their International Student Career Series. Students will learn about topics, such as searching for a job in the US, formatting a resume, and transitioning to a work visa. ISSS also assists students with transitioning to the US, advising on immigration requirements, and making the most of their academic experience. Fall 2024 schedule is attached below.

For master’s students
Master’s students are typically served by career service offices within colleges and schools or by the University Career Center through embedded Program Directors.
