Getting Your GLOA Started
The Graduate Learning Outcomes Assessment (GLOA) Process begins with the faculty in a graduate program selecting at least one graduate learning outcome for assessment. The learning outcomes for graduate programs will vary. Below are examples of graduate student core learning competencies that programs can consider for their GLOA. Programs may also identify unique learning competencies. The graduate learning outcome that each program selects to assess will come from a single core competency.

Fellowships Requiring UMD Nomination
The fellowships listed below are limited submission fellowships, meaning a UMD nomination is required for the application. Most of the awards below require that students work with their program to create a nomination package. Programs would submit the nomiantion to the Graduate School's Office of Funding Opportunities, Program Director Robyn Kotzker at rkotzker@umd.edu by the required deadline.

Doctoral Careers Advisory Board
Established the summer of 2020, the Doctoral Careers Advisory Board (DCAB) provides strategic advice and feedback on supporting diverse doctoral career paths at the University of Maryland. Comprised of doctoral and postdoctoral alumni, current doctoral students and postdocs, board members commit to two years of service.
Doctoral Alumni Career Services
The University of Maryland is committed to assisting its doctoral alumni with their career development after graduation. Services are provided through the Alumni Association in collaboration with the network of career services offices on campus. In addition to the Alumni Association, the Schools of Engineering, Business and Public Policy provide services to doctoral alumni through their career services offices.
