This series is best suited for PhD candidates or Postdocs who are actively applying or getting ready to apply for industry roles, including non-faculty positions in higher education and other non-profit space. ** For best learning outcome, participants are expected to attend all sessions if possible as the topics build on each other.
Academic Job Documents Retreat
The Graduate School provides comprehensive support for doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars interested in academic careers. The Academic Job Documents Retreat is open to doctoral candidates who are ABD and postdocs in ALL disciplines. The goal is to help you navigate the entire process and feel more prepared for the faculty application cycle (typically in late summer/early fall). The retreat provides community during the process in addition to feedback for your individual applications.
Graduate Assistant Tuition Assistance
Graduate Assistants are, first and foremost, graduate students pursuing an education. The opportunity to work closely with faculty members and undergraduate students in teaching, research, or administrative environments is an integral part of that education. Assistantships provide graduate students with the financial resources necessary to pursue their degrees. This financial support—stipend, tuition assistance, and benefits—is part of the University’s commitment to the success of our graduate students.
Doctoral Career Design Series
The Doctoral Career Design Series offers current doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars the opportunity to participate in intentional career exploration and decision-making. Given the changing career landscape, early engagement in the career planning process will better prepare doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars to pursue meaningful career pathways after graduate school or postdoctoral training.
BtP Scheduled Live Webinars (Spring 2025)
If you couldn't attend the session live, please register for the event in order to receive a link to replay.
BtP Asynchronous, Recorded Content
Many topics are covered via a 20-30-minute video format by Beyond the Professoriate, which addresses the most commonly asked questions by doctoral students and Postdocs at all career stages. See the next section for links to access "Asynchronous, Recorded Content."
